insider's look

sometime right now e should be on a plane going from lax to sydney. a week ago we never met her. but she happened to be in nursing school from and live down the block from k-livealittle. k-livealittle gave her a brief plan of what to do and sent her to our care -- actually we hadn't seen each other since k-livealittle's going away party two years ago.

so e arrived late thursday late late after a slew of delays. from friday on we tried to pack as much in as possible tag teaming site to site, meal to meal, pub to pub. she had a wonderful time, perhaps the most excited person to see new york i've ever met. every corner turned was a bubbly wow. it's very contagious. we had a good time showing her the city we love. hopefully she got an understanding into how the city looks from the inside.

so today i booked a big apple greater visit for two weekends from now. it is a great program that links up locals with tourist coming to the city. to get a different perspective on it. i've been taking people around for, ooh, seven years now. i do it only once a month or once every other month when i'm in the country. it lets me feel like traveling without leaving the city and it helps me get to know the neighborhood even better.

too bad e didn't get a chance to walk around the neighborhoods i really cover, downtown brooklyn, les and chinatown. she was only here for five days. she had a great attitude when asked why she was in new york for such amount of time. "either you go out and do it or you don't." something i believe very much in. i don't think she slept at all, but she did squeeze alot in. hopefully she'll be back to catch the rest.
